Wells uses as he makes his award winning “Light Studies”, photo-essays exploring the light and atmosphere of different places. On September 24, 2016 David will guide participating photographers through the strategies, subject matter, location scouting, and shooting of the art performance “Waterfire” in downtown Providence. Wet Plate Collodion Workshop
The History, Art & Process of Wet Plate Collodion Photography: Lecture, shooting, darkroom procedure, and review and critique.

- Saturday: Wet Plate Collodion history and process, including the inner workings of the view camera. Presentation and walk through of the process, 11 am to 5pm

Photographs come to life and take on a timeless quality when created with the wet-plate Collodion process. Images feel simultaneously real and dreamlike. In this intensive, 2-day workshop, Brett takes you on a hands-on exploration of historical techniques that enhance the textural and painterly effects of photography. You will follow Brett’s step-by-step process of exposing and processing wet-plate collodion prints. Students make between 4-6, 8×10 or 4×5 glass plates per workshop and will leave with the skills to make plates on their own.

Seeing Like a Camera Fall Foliage Train to Sutton, CT Photography Workshop
Join instructor David H. Wells on a unique photography workshop. Learn how to “see like a camera” on a magical fall foliage train ride from Woonsocket, RI to Sutton CT. During the train trip and through the streets of Sutton during their fall festival, you’ll shoot with guidance from David and have a photography adventure to remember. It’s a great hands-on learning experience. The next day we will review and discuss the photos together at Peter Miller Fine Art Gallery in Providence, RI.
